Solar Renewable Energy – Its Advantages and Disadvantages

By Arunsi Jeremiah

Article posted by Rabbi Yitzhak Miller

Energy is consumed in large amounts everyday and is something that we cannot live without. With the rising concerns regarding the energy crisis, as the existing resources are depleting and the remaining ones causing heavy environmental pollution, many people are diverting their attention to environmentally friendly and renewable sources of energy.

Solar power as a source of renewable energy can be an ideal solution for the prevailing energy crisis as it is available in abundance. Furthermore, solar power is a free source of power that will cost nothing on a daily basis, when compared with many other sources of fossil fuels that are taking price hikes almost everyday. Solar power is environmentally friendly as it causes no harmful emissions. Solar power is also better in terms of sustainable energy because it’s freely available and can be replenished on a daily basis.

One of the biggest advantages of solar renewable energy is that apart from setting up mechanisms on a national level, even households also can participate in the process of generating eco-friendly power by installing solar batteries at each house. The electricity that is generated through these batteries can easily cater to your daily power needs. Once the system is installed you will experience no regular electricity costs.

Although sunlight is available practically everywhere, this method is not often seen at large scale power plants as often as we see in other sources of energy. One reason for this is that not many people are aware of solar power as a stable source of electricity. Another reason is setting up the necessary apparatus in order to directly convert sunlight into electricity, is very expensive. This is considered the main drawback of solar renewable energy. Another disadvantage could be its inability to support electric devices that consume large volumes of electricity. However you can overcome this drawback by using solar power for all the other electricity needs as much as possible.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Wind Power

By Alex D Wilson

It is natural that people who are considering generating electricity from wind power should be concerned about the advantages and disadvantages of the process in reaching a decision.

This is especially so for people who are determined to build their own wind turbine rather than purchase a commercial version at considerable cost.

Certainly it is very much easier and quicker to purchase a commercial model but the price differential makes the do-it-yourself version the preferred alternative for most people.

One disadvantage of building a wind turbine is the time taken to shop for the various components and put them together. On the other hand many people would regard this as a very pleasant pastime, and when the cost-saving is taken into account the project becomes even more pleasant.

Another disadvantage that must be taken into consideration is the fact that the wind doesn’t always blow, and gathering data in relation to wind speed, direction and frequency is a very important matter.

Some people may feel that wind turbines are unsightly, and there is no doubt that they are not the most beautiful things in the world. On the other hand TV antennas are not very attractive either, but that certainly doesn’t stop most people from having a TV. And when we think about it, watching TV costs money, whereas operating a wind turbine has the opposite effect– it saves money.

But without a doubt the greatest advantage is that any harnessing of natural power, however small, plays an important part in the reduction of C02and so reduces the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Certainly there seems no doubt when considering the advantages and disadvantages of wind power that the balance falls very much in favor of dispensing with the power company by building a wind turbine.

Positive Environment For Positive Lifestyle

By Nen Jono

Article posted by Richard Kaloust

Our environment determines the kind of lifestyle we live in. A positive environment helps create a more positive lifestyle. Here are some things I would like to share on how to gain a positive lifestyle.

1. Keep an open mind. Be mindful that no man is an island and that you need to consider other people’s ideas, advice and suggestions. Remember that it is always worthwhile to view things from another person’s perspective.

2. Be optimistic and embrace the “can-do” attitude in everything you do. This attitude acts as a catalyst, a drive, to push you to achieve your goal.

3. Never give up, never lose hope. For many of us, hope is what gets us through a difficult situation.

4. Be forgiving of self and others. There is no benefit from harboring regrets or holding grudges. In fact, it is
universally agreed that the act of forgiveness can bring you inner peace.

5. Accept failures and learn from past mistakes. Nobody is perfect, not even a revered genius like Einstein.

6. Improve on existing relationships to ensure a more positive home and work surrounding. If the relationship is doomed for failure even after much effort has been put in, move on. Do not dwell in misery.

7. Keep good company and eliminate bad ones. Stay away from negative minded people if possible. Negative people only makes negative situation worse.

8. Choose to be happy! Every morning, look in the mirror, smile and say “I will be happy today” then work on staying happy despite whatever hardship is thrown your way.

9. Eliminate negative thoughts and focus only on positive ones. For instance, instead of focusing on your physical flaws, concentrate on your plus points. Whatever pluses you find about yourself will definitely outnumber the flaws. Get it all on a piece of paper and you will find this to be true.

Save the Environment by Using Wind Energy

By Charles Stuart Gregory

Article recommended by Richard Kaloust

Based on a report recently updated by UN Convention on Biological Diversity, it is estimated environmental damage and biodiversity loss in ecosystem ranges from 2 to 4.8 trillion dollars yearly. If we do not take action in preventing further damages, not only the cost will be astronomical high, we would not leave a green future for our future generation.

So how do we save energy and preserve the future? One way is by using wind power. Wind power is one of the major solutions to our energy crisis. It is clean, reliable and cheap. In this article, we will discuss why wind power is valuable to mankind.

Wind power is extremely reliable and do not cause extra pollutants in the air. A well maintained wind farm will have a down time of less than 1%. These wind farms can store energy and therefore produce power even when there is no wind blowing. Wind power is also 100% clean and there is no waste. Unlike nuclear plants, you can stay perfectly fine near wind turbines and there is no need to worry about chemical spills or mutation effects.

On the economical side, wind power is easy and very cost effective to set up. All farmers need is an open land for building these wind turbines. A wind farm will not cause dangers to any vegetation and livestock. Farmers can rent or sell the energy back to power companies. More job opportunities will be created as manpower will be needed to operate these wind farms. At the end of the day, more jobs will be created and the economy of local farms will improve.

Wind energy is 100% renewable. We will never run out of wind and the more energy we need is easily obtainable by creating more wind turbines. Price of wind energy will not soar up based on market like oil and we do not have to worry about greedy politician controlling the wind market because it is available everywhere.
